What would it be like to be a URI Grad Assistant without a strong union?

Our benefits Won’t defend themselves.

Before GAU, our stipends hadn’t increased in nearly a decade and were well below a living wage. Everyone paid for their health insurance. We had no dental. We had no paid time off. Most distressingly, we had no way to defend our rights as workers.

Our stipends, raises, insurance, benefits, and worker’s rights did not just materialize one day, nor were they freely given to us by a benevolent administration. Members like you fought for every single benefit we have.

GAU depends on strong membership to continue to defend everything we’ve earned and expand our benefits each time we go to the negotiating table. If you or one of your colleagues are not yet a member of GAU, join today.

We literally cannot do this work without you.
